castle has a more sinister persona. There are stories of people who have left the youth hostel in the middle
of the night due to extreme paranormal activity.
With this in mind we have organised an amazing Halloween weekend away in one of the most haunted locations in
the country. Your weekend will start with a Halloween banquet on the Friday to give you time to unwind
before the main event. For more information about this exciting weekend please read the details
When the early morning mist slowly pervades the hillsides of the Wye Valley, Gloucestershire,
there stands a medieval castle that has a reputation of being one of the most haunted castles in the UK. Phantom
footsteps, dark shadows & mysterious lights are just a few of the daily occurrences at St Briavels

stone keep sometime in the 12th century.

II, and Edward II who have used the castle as a hunting lodge during their visits to the Forest of
Between 1209-1211 the keep was extended and strengthened & in addition domestic
buildings, royal apartments, and a twin-towered gatehouse was built. The gatehouse was rebuilt by Edward I in
