A bale of cloth was sent from London to the little remote village of Eyam in Derbyshire, which 14 months earlier was in storage in the plague ridden city where the disease had already killed thousands of inhabitants.  On the 1st November 1666 Eyam farm worker Abraham Morten gasped his final breath, he was the last of 260 people to die from bubonic plague in the remote village of Eyam.  Their fate had been sealed four months earlier when the entire village made the remarkable decision to quarantine itself in a heroic attempt to prevent the spread of the Great Plague.
