Chillingham Castle in Northumberland is a hotbed of activity and has always gained a reputation for being very haunted; in fact many believe Chillingham Castle to be the most haunted location in Great Britain. What also adds to the appeal is the Castles medieval architecture, the sheer beauty of this historical masterpiece and the more sinister side of the torture chamber, complete with stretching rack and Iron Maiden. Not only did the castle provide shelter for the English soldiers, it was also used to imprison Scottish rebels. A castle known by the name “The Home of the Torturers”. One priest called it, an embodiment of evil.

Many Film and TV companies have used this magnificent setting for films such as “Elizabeth” and the Hollywood film “Most Frightened”. This Castle is of course a perfect location for your ghost hunting experience....

Chillingham Castle dates back to the 12th century when it was considered to be one of the most important and senior strongholds in this region and later to become a fully fortified castle in 1344. The castle is steeped in history and has seen many skirmishes during the Northumberland bloody border feuds when Chillingham Castle held a strategic position. In 1298 King Edward I visited the castle before confronting William Wallace where he was defeated in the bloody battle of Stirling Bridge.

Many Kings and Queens of England have passed through the doors of Chillingham Castle and eight Knights of the Garter have been executed for high treason within these walls.

Many ghosts are said to haunt the castle, including the famous Blue Boy who is said to haunt the Pink Room. Guests have reported a flash of blue light above their beds and a loud wail before the entity disappears! There are other stories of the ghost of “Lady Mary”, a tortured child and a Royal procession are just some of the resident spirits and ghosts that await your audience at Chillingham Castle.
